The best way to change things for the better is to insist on a whole new board and the sooner the better. We need a modern attitude with a sense of community. The board should be required to have a term limitation.
The problem is that a job description or time involvement is not disclosed. There is also the threat of retaliation, and many residents won't speak up.
This place is degrading, has safety issues, and looks bad. There is no respect or accountability from the board.
Is there anything that this Board has done to benefit homeowners and residents? In addition to the reserve details they have admitted lying to us about, I have read a detailed narrative describing how this Board has consistently ignored juvenile trespass and destruction of Association property. Why spend $20K for a video security system and then contemptuously avoid using it? From what was described, the Board’s actions are arguably criminal in themselves—aiding, abetting, even refusing to assist police investigations with captured video evidence.
And how about an investigation of the RV lot? To see the written policy for its use; to see who are the “renters”; to see how much they are paying; and, a full accounting of the income and expenditures from what appears to be a slush fund. And is it true what we are hearing that they are renting to non-Edgewood homeowners and residents? What a group.
@kepcv6871 To answer some of your questions kepcv6871, I have attended the HOA meetings for the last six months asking questions about the RV lot. I was curious how much the HOA was charging to rent spaces for an RV vs. car. Fact: Everyone pays $25 a month, whether you're a 40' RV or a car or boat. Board said that it used to be free to use the lot. Well, I'm sure that was a great perk in the beginning of our development, but now we are dealing with 50-year-old homes and no money to fix the problems that homeowers are facing, i.e., flooding, gutters collasping, roofs leaking, sewer issues, etc. For the last 6 months I have asked the Board for the rent in the RV lot be raised to help off-set the money lacking from our Reserve fund. Each time I've been told they're discussing it. Going rate in Sacto for an RV to be parked in a lot similar to ours is anywhere from $150 to $250 a month. I've suggested even $100 for RVs and $50 for cars would generate at least $10,000 more a year for our depleted reserve fund. Hearsay, there are at least 3 to 4 members of our board that have vehicles parked in our RV lot. Fact: Everyone parked in the RV lot does not have to live here, but they have to have an address in Edgewood. Neglected to ask how many RVs and cars can have the same address. That will be for the next HOA meeting, I guess. Fact: Yes, there is a separate fund for the RV lot, exclusively used only for the RV lot. Estimated balance last month was $15,000. Fact: It was mentioned that there are three more renters moving their vehicles/RVs into our lot next month at $25 a space. Interesting...
@katbar5767 Thanks for your observations. Is there a written policy? It sounds like since it was something added, they decided to wink and a nod to keep it off the books with little or no accountability. Best way is for a subcommittee to study and make recommendations, with appointees including non board members. And pronto. This is not a car park like downtown, but for the convenience of the residents, so the charges should reflect that. But definitely, a motorhome or extended trailer, needs to be double, at least. The income needs to go into the regular account with expenditures justified and authorized on a priority. This should not be contentious. It just needs to be done.
