- First responders were sent scrambling after a plane carrying 10 people crashed into the ocean off the coast of Florida on Tuesday afternoon.
- A historically strong Super El Niño is forecast to take hold sometime this summer. However, the record-breaking strength of this El Niño could lead to its own rapid collapse.
- A large amount of seaweed known as sargassum has washed up along the shores of Miami Beach. The City of Miami Beach, in coordination with Miami-Dade County Parks, is now using beach-friendly equipment to blend the sargassum across the city’s 7.5-mile stretch of beach each day.
- Record heat, which is beginning to arrive for millions across the Central U.S. will give way to the next rounds of severe weather by this weekend.
