The Citrus Heights Police Department encourages families and students to wear their sneakers and join their classmates to walk, bike, or roll to class on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. “Walk and Roll to School Day” is celebrated annually to highlight the benefits of exercise while also promoting the importance of pedestrian and road safety.
“National Walk and Roll to School Day offers an amazing opportunity for families to build stronger community bonds,” Citrus Heights Police Department’s Sergeant Kane Kissam said. “This event not only promotes pedestrian safety and advocates for safer routes for walking and biking to school but also underscores the importance of boosting physical activity among children and prioritizing their safety. It’s a wonderful way to come together and make a positive impact on our children’s well-being.”
You are encouraged to register at walkbiketoschool.org link to track participation.
While extra caution is needed on the morning of October 9, 2024, with increased foot and bike traffic, it’s important to stay alert every single day. Drivers should:

We’re removing the loneliness of single parenting! Every month, Single Mom Strong gives you 3-4 opportunities to connect with other local single mothers. One of those opportunities is our monthly Mom’s Night (or Day) Out event. Get to know other local single moms while you “refill your cup”. Our MNO events are opportunities to get together with women of similar circumstances and share new experiences. At these events, there is plenty of time to discuss challenges or wins and share ideas or resources, while also just enjoying a fun break. Whether you have previously attended an SMS event or not, ALL single moms are welcome. Inexpensive, quality childcare in our licensed childcare facility is always available during our Mom’s Night Out events, but it fills quickly, so register as soon as you know you can attend.
THIS MONTH we’re headed to The Sophia, home of B street Theater, to watch “What The Constitution Means To Me”. Considered a modern classic, WHAT THE CONSTITUTION MEANS TO ME navigates our modern American landscape through reflection, narrative, and civil debate. Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the U.S. Later in her life, she reflects on those competitions and the impact they had on her as an American citizen. In this hilarious new play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that shaped their lives. We will meet at the Four Palms Hotel Bar in Fort Sutter Hotel ( attached to the Sophia) for appetizers at 4:00pm. The show begins at 5pm.
Childcare is provided during Mom’s Night/Day Out events, but children must be pre-registered. Children must be 2 and older (and potty trained) to attend childcare when mom is not on site.
