Edgewood’s next neighborhood cleanup day will be April 1st.
Ensure that all materials are placed out for collection no later than 6 a.m. on the designated collection date.
Loose materials should be contained in disposable receptacles such as cardboard boxes or large plastic bags, especially for loose leaves.
Only dispose of materials that are deemed acceptable for collection, as outlined in the list of Acceptable Materials provided below.
Property owners and/or residents should be aware that penalty fees may be imposed for violations, including oversized piles, improper disposal of materials, or placing items at the curb outside of the designated timeframe.
Each pick-up allows for a pile size of up to 10 cubic yards (equivalent to 10′ x 7′ x 4′), ensuring that materials are within the specified limits for collection.
Acceptable Materials
- Appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, and air conditioners should be placed away from the pile for separate collection.
- Barbecues should be placed separately and not mixed with other items for collection.
- Branches should not exceed 6 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter to ensure proper collection.
- Carpeting should be placed separately and not mixed with other items for collection.
- Computers, monitors, electronics, and televisions should be placed away from piles for separate e-waste collection.
- Furniture items like chairs, sofas, and dining tables should be placed separately for collection.
- Mattresses should be placed separately and not mixed with other items for collection.
- PVC or plastic pipes are accepted for collection, but steel pipes should not be included.
- Tires are limited to a maximum of 4 and should be placed away from the pile for separate collection.
- Toys should be placed separately and not mixed with other items for collection.
- Wood should not exceed 6 feet in length and 4 inches in width. Fencing should be disassembled before collection. Treated wood requires special handling and is not collected as part of the Neighborhood Clean-Up Program.
Unacceptable Materials
- Camper shells, automobiles, and auto parts
- Backyard spas
- Boats and boat parts
- Bullets, shells, and explosives
- Commercial waste or contractor waste
- Construction materials like concrete, dirt, rocks, bricks, sheetrock, and roofing material
- Treated wood
- Foul materials of any kind
- Household hazardous waste such as paint, pesticides, oil, cleaning products, and batteries
- Household waste
- Liquid waste
- Medical waste
- Universal waste like fluorescent light bulbs or products containing mercury
Helpful Tips
- Place materials at the curb, ensuring they are not in the gutter and do not obstruct sidewalks or roadways.
- Keep materials at least 6 feet away from vehicles and garbage/recycling/organics carts.
- Do not set piles of materials on private property or against fences or walls.
- Avoid blocking sidewalks or streets with piles of materials.
- Prepare all the materials you intend to discard in advance and have them ready to be moved to the curb.
- Bundle tree branches together for easier handling.
- Before disposal, remove appliance doors for safety reasons.
