Build confidence and reading skills โ one wag at a time !
Come read to some PAW–some pooches! School-age readers are invited to read to furry and friendly canine volunteers and their trainers. This is a great program for struggling and reluctant readers or for those who enjoy practice. The dogs are wonderful listeners. Woof!

This program is designed for kids (ages 6-12). Struggling and reluctant readers are encouraged to attend, as are readers who would like some additional practice. No registration is necessary; drop-ins are welcome.

The Orangevale Library, part of the Sacramento Public Library system, is located at 8820 Greenback Lane, Suite L, Orangevale, CA 95662. Serving as a true community hub, it offers a wide range of resources, technology, and programs for residents of all ages.
Key Features & History
- First established in 1912; at the current Greenback Lane location since 2001.
- Underwent a major renovation and expansion in 2021, nearly doubling in size from 4,320 to 7,910 square feet.
- Added spaces include:
- Dedicated rooms for children and teens
- Two new study rooms
- A flexible community room
- Features an in-house Seed Library offering free vegetable and flower seeds to the public.

- Collections: Books, eBooks, audiobooks, DVDs, music CDs, and magazines.
- Technology: Public computers, word processors, and free high-speed gigabit internet.
- Programs & Events: Family Storytime, โExplore and Learnโ sessions, and seasonal programs.
- Friends of the Orangevale Library: A volunteer support group that funds programs and materials through book sales and events.
