Build confidence and reading skills โ€” one wag at a time !

Come read to some PAWsome pooches! School-age readers are invited to read to furry and friendly canine volunteers and their trainers. This is a great program for struggling and reluctant readers or for those who enjoy practice. The dogs are wonderful listeners. Woof!

This program is designed for kids (ages 6-12). Struggling and reluctant readers are encouraged to attend, as are readers who would like some additional practice. No registration is necessary; drop-ins are welcome.

The Orangevale Library, part of the Sacramento Public Library system, is located at 8820 Greenback Lane, Suite L, Orangevale, CA 95662. Serving as a true community hub, it offers a wide range of resources, technology, and programs for residents of all ages.

  • First established in 1912; at the current Greenback Lane location since 2001.
  • Underwent a major renovation and expansion in 2021, nearly doubling in size from 4,320 to 7,910 square feet.
  • Added spaces include:
    • Dedicated rooms for children and teens
    • Two new study rooms
    • A flexible community room
  • Features an in-house Seed Library offering free vegetable and flower seeds to the public.

  • Collections: Books, eBooks, audiobooks, DVDs, music CDs, and magazines.
  • Technology: Public computers, word processors, and free high-speed gigabit internet.
  • Programs & Events: Family Storytime, โ€œExplore and Learnโ€ sessions, and seasonal programs.
  • Friends of the Orangevale Library: A volunteer support group that funds programs and materials through book sales and events.
