Although dated 12/18/24, The Edgewood Voice 'newsletter' was received today, 12/23/24.
Comments will appear over the next few days.
First one:
Again, who in their right mind is trusting these people with more money?
This Board is not transparent, and they will absolutely not be held accountable to you. You will never know how your money is truly being spent. Additionally, it's important to note that you are paying $395 per month in dues, with very little to show for it. Part of those dues is to cover the community amenities you all enjoy. Are they planning to start charging for the pool as well? It shouldn't be your fault that they mismanage your money.
Contributing extra funds to support your community during difficult times is commendable. However, the issue lies in the fact that you are providing these resources to the very individuals who are exploiting the situation at worst, or completely mismanaging the Association and its finances at best (and being dishonest about it).
Is it possible for Russ to clean up the RV Parking area since it appears to get zero attention?
When I say clean it up, I mean clean up properly.
Members have pointed out that it is an absolute mess, and simply spending money on privacy screening you can not afford, is not the solution to the problem.
Homeowners on Kingswood have complained multiple times now. Russ knows this. Yet, no mention of that, but we are supposed to thank him for cleaning carpets again.
Who is in charge of RV Parking? Who is in charge of the clubhouse?
It appears Russell Skutley is "in charge" of RV Parking, and Patti Burden, the clubhouse.
Maybe you two should switch. I'd like to see Pat out in RV parking with a tiller. Russ does nothing there. Apparently, Russ excels at clubhouse carpet cleaning, though.
This Board once again is trying to pat themselves on the back for a job well done when it is completely undeserved, just like they did when they told you that you have over $800,000 in the bank when in reality you had ~$200,000, back at the May annual meeting.
Once again, no "financial corner." You probably wouldn't want to see it anyway—it obviously can not be good.
In case you missed it (where have you been?), The Edgewood HOA Accounting Scandal.
Remember, you have to pay back the money they squander, one way or another. There are no mulligans, here. They spent down your reserves to almost nothing. What do you have to show for it? A half-painted and half-rotting property with maintenance that has been deferred for years.
You have a +$20,000 camera system spewing RFI, a very expensive pool cover, and a working pool solar panel just in time for winter. Also, you have no bridge. Your community is cut in half.
Just the tip of the iceberg of problems in this property.
This is not the fault of the painting project. This the fault of the very "smart people" you have allowed to run the place for so many years (or decades).
You haven't voted for them in years (maybe forever).
These people just walk in, unvetted, and now have responsibility and control your house, your happiness, and $42,660 per month of your money. How is it working out?
You need to ask yourselves if you are getting the value you expect from your $400/month dues payment. If not, please keep in mind there are people waiting who want to be Board president, and will genuinely try to deliver that value for you.
We have candidates that believe an HOA Board president's primary duty is to facilitate discussion among the Association members and build consensus in the community.
I wish the community a good Christmas and New Years. We will continue investigating this mess after the new year.
More to come...
