Spoke with a neighbor this morning

She kind of flagged me down with a big wave as I was leaving Spyglass.

I don't know her, but we had a brief conversation about the Association.

What I'm finding is there seems to be a small group of people that unconditionally support the Board.  Even in the face of evidence of the malfeasance.

I don't believe she was up to date on the recent developments; however, I don't think it would matter.

She also asked if I was going to pay the $4167.  She was aware of that figure.  Keep in mind, we (and this website) are the reason she could quote that number.  Information is powerfulwe are delivering it.

She seemed to accept that the Board is in the position they are in (and thus the Association) just because of circumstances.  She seemed to be justifying the misstatement of the accounting.

I can't understand or explain her reasoning, so I won't attempt it.  It seemed to revolve around the repainting project.

I told her, whether or not that is true, the Board needs to be honest with the Association, and the community must discuss these issues.  It is not correct for the Board to mislead the association, and then make decisions for them without their input.

I told her that forcing a recall vote will force this discussion.  She said she didn't want to pay for a recall.

I pointed out that she and none of you have had any say in how your money is spent and with what priority.

She didn't have a response to this.  This is when she walked away.

Even without the fraud, this Board clearly has not done anything to warrant this unconditional support.  They are clearly not good at this.

I'm not sure why some people seem to be willing to accept this.  I certainly wouldn't accept it, and as some like to point out, I am not a member of your association.

My parents are.

I have no say, I can't even speak at a Board meeting.

I am just a victim.

I would not want to be part of any group that gives unconditional support to anyone in any leadership position, whether they are a politician, HOA Board member, or king. Some of you really need to think hard about this.

This message is transparency.

The Board informed The Browning Reserve Group that they expected the association to be charged the special assessments totaling $4167.00.

This covers the major shortfall over just the next 3 years.

This would require a vote.  The Association was never informed of this.  How could you consider a vote on this issue?  How did the Board anticipate the levy of the assessments?

They never intended to address the real financial situation, and address the assessments. You were misled into believing that everything was fine. If there was any intention to discuss the assessments with the association, it was clearly dropped after Russ received my email about the recall effort on May 3, along with the subsequent activities concerning the recall within the community.

The Association must discuss this.  Someone must call some sort of special meeting.  This is also an open forum for the community to discuss these serious issues, among many others, such as the member harassment, lack of services rendered, etc.  Just look at the state of the property.  This website's main header image is a good start.

The painting and refurbishment project isn't the reason for the poor financial state of your Association.  It's the mismanagement / non-management of such a large scale project by people who clearly shouldn't be undertaking it alone.  Not when we have an entire community of members, some with real experience.  You should have formed real committees.  I'd like to see the proper project management reports on the project:  Business Case, Project Charter, Project Plan, Risk Reports, Variance Reports, Project Health and Status Reports, etc.  I'm sure they don't exist.  They absolutely should for a project of that scale.  This is what happens when projects aren't managed.

This website is entirely built to provide a conduit for communication for the members and residents within the Edgewood community.  It has taken time, money, and hundreds of hours of tedious learning and frustrating effort to build for you.  You should use it.

It has also been rewarding in many ways.

Start budgeting for your assessments.  They are coming, in a big way.  The actual majority of the Association may never vote on it.  You need >50% of >50% quorum.  I believe the Board will get it if they want it.

If you want any actual say in this, you know what you need to do.  What you don't need to do is hand these people $450,000.

As I understand, multiple Board members own multiple Edgewood properties, plus many if not all RVs in the parking lot. They would appear to enjoy significant control of the voting as well. Their interests clearly do not align with the interests of the average Edgewood homeowner.

These are demonstrably not the type of people who will prioritize the needs of the community over their own desires.

I take a beating trying to deliver this information to you.  Think about it.

For Board members and their friends who seem to forget where we are:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Thanks for sharing that with us Shane. You are right, there are a lot of residents that feel they are part of a clique, are privileged, and are totally loyal to the clique. That probably is human nature? They were probably all giving orders to people as to how to arrange the deck chairs as the Titanic was sinking. Human nature is still subservient to natural selection.

Since you are a victim like the rest of us, you should also have a voice. How about I sell you 1% of my unit for a dollar. Once added to the title, you could legally attend the meetings as a homeowner, no matter the percentage. Just say the word. We appreciate you in spite of the cliques.

We have your back, sir.
