Maintenance and budget priorities

Has anybody looked at the approved budget for this year?  It looks totally out of whack to me, attached.  Let's focus on maintenance today.  You know, the stuff that really affects our quality of life here, directly.  Like fences falling down, gates that don't close, dry rot, leaking roofs, that sort of thing.  Let's do a little comparing to understand what the Board's priorities are for us.

$7600 is allocated annually for general maintenance.  How many things like fence and gate repairs, paint, dry rot, etc. ar funded at $5.86/unit/month.  Does this include the cost of labor, if not, how does that get accounted for?  $2000 is allocated for supplies.  Who's going to use them?

How about landscaping and repairs which are allocated at $93K+ per year, plus $34.5K. for water, most of which is for the lawns?  $128K!  Our Board should be focussed on reducing these landscaping costs, which will require replacing a lot of lawn, but the money could be then allocated to maintenance. Lawn is nice, but we really can't afford to keep it up, and it won't be long before this gets mandated for replacement anyway.  $128K vs. $7.6K for all maintenance and repairs.  I don't like this math.

Where is the bridge replacement in here?

But we do have gutter cleaning, $5,700?  Anybody ever thought of investing in gutter covers?

$9000 for electricity.  Is it just me, or am I seeing our outdoor lighting is on 24 hours/ day?  What would be save if we figure out how to turn them off during the day?

There's more we could talk about, this is enough for now.

What do you think?  Am I all wet?  Does this budget look good to you?  I would love to have our Board president explain the logic of this budget to us.

Your thoughts are far too logical for the current board.
