I read this recently and was moved:

When you're facing up against power and authority, it's easy to feel helpless and like you don't have any options, feeling like the only thing you can do is try to mitigate the fallout they're causing by trying to keep peace with them. The thing is, they're counting on you thinking and feeling that way; a lot of times, petty authority and controlling behavior rely completely and wholly upon silence

It's difficult to do, but if you ask around enough, you're likely to find there are others with the same experience as you—though they'll probably share the same feelings that speaking up will only lead to more trouble. Though it takes time, energy, and effort that you can't really afford, you might find that seeing it through will result in exposure and change that is desperately needed.

I wonder if certain members of the board have figured out that things will never go back to what they once were.

There will be no more silence in this community.  People will no longer be silenced by fear of vindictive retaliation.  We watched them try to silence us by attempting to instill fear in my own father.  It didn't quite work out as Pat Burden hoped.

I will attempt to converse with everyone in the community that I can over the next few weeks.  We are moving forward to bring this hard-fought effort to a successful close.

As we approach the finish line, it's important to remember that we've come this far because of our resilience and teamwork.  I have no doubt that there are a few challenges ahead, and we will encounter some resistance.  I have little doubt that this community is now in a position to defeat opposition that, for whatever reason, wants to maintain the previous and terrible status quo.

I look forward to speaking with all of you very soon.

I am proud of this community.
